Polish Pig Sector in Global Context

Abstract

This paper presents some aspects of globalization in the world agriculture market, paying attention to the major factors influencing the pig sector. The article contains also an analysis of the changes in the world food sector, particularly the level and dynamics of pork production. The low position of Polish pork production among the producer countries and the competitivity of big and cheap pork producers from outside Europe were discussed. The research shows that the costs of pork production outside Europe are significantly lower.
