Academic teachers and PhD students of the Department teach courses for students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture and Bioengineering, within eight course units at bachelor and master degree: animal husbandry (specialization: animal breeding, breeding of free-living and amateur animals, animal production management – study programme in English), biology, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, environmental protection, agriculture. Major courses within the above-mentioned fields of study are: breeding and use of farm animals (cattle, pigs, sheep and goats, fur animals, poultry), ecological methods of breeding farm and wild animals, conservative breeding of animals, quality of raw animal products, animal products marketing and processing, milk hygienic quality, animal products hygienic quality, ultrasound diagnostics and computer image analysis. The aim of student courses is to increase the knowledge and practical skills of participants. This is promoted by extensive cooperation with leading livestock farms and food processing plants. In addition, the University's experimental farm with pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits, allows to conduct practical classes in direct contact with animals.

The Department’s employees cooperate with talented students within the framework of the Scientific Society of Animal Production and Biologists. We encourage students to prepare their diploma theses in our Department. Master's theses made under the supervision of our employees are often awarded, i.e. by the Polish Society of Animal Production, which emphasizes their quality and is a recognition of skills and contribution of the graduate students and their tutors.
