POTENTIAL SUPPLY IN THE CONTEXT OF IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEW REGIONAL PRODUCT “WOŁOWINA SUDECKA”



Abstract

The paper deals with the issues related to the supply side of the launch of a new regional product “Wołowina Sudecka” (Sudeten beef). This product is to be produced from cattle in the utility type of meat and combined, which is kept in the Sudeten counties. The results helped to determine that, in the surveyed area, in 2010 over 38 thousand of cattle were maintained. For this over 66% was in milk type, and the remaining part were cattle in meat and combined type of utility. The best meat comes from meat and combined type, so this type of cattle was selected for detailed analysis, and determination the potential supply of cooking beef. As a result of the work, it was identified that in the chosen area the potential supply of cooking beef is about 589 tons per year. The idea of introducing the analysed regional product to the market should be considered as valuable, because there is an adequate supply potential, and many benefits for local communities, business and tourists can result from it.
