RESEARCH SUMMARY
Past research:
Dissertation work: evaluation of the impact of genotype on the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR C677T) and cystathionine β-synthase (CBS rs6586282) genotype, nutrition and folic acid supplementation on the metabolism of folic acid, homocysteine, and risk of cardiovascular disease.
Undergraduate study and Erasmus scholarship (Danone Research Centre for Specialised Nutrition, Wageningen): A study of the impact of fetal and early childhood nutrition on the susceptibility to obesity and metabolic diseases in adulthood.
Current research interests: the influence of the diet on the human intestinal microflora composition, in particular those related to the metabolism of folate and choline and cardiovascular disease.
