PROFITABILITY OF POULTRY PRODUCTION ON THE SAMPLE OF FARMS IN SOUTH POLAND



Abstract

The work presents analysis of poultry production profitability as well as factors which creates it on the sample of 26 farms from provinces: Małopolskie and Podkarpackie for years 2005-2007. Among production indices, index of feed consumption was analyzed which decreased from 1.92 in year 2005 to 1.87 kg/kg in year 2007. Price of feed was achieved opposite tendency – increasing from 0.88 PLN/kg in year 2005 to 0.98 PLN/kg in year 2007. As a consequence, increased price of feed caused that costs of feed increased in analyzed years from 1.69 in year 2005 to 1.83 PLN/kg in year 2007. Others components of costs – costs of production preparing and remaining costs practically stayed on the same level. To sum up, price of feed in the most degree influenced on the level of unit costs and profitability. Dynamics of total costs was on the level of 8% in the whole period included in this study. In the period included in the study the production of broiler chicken was profitable.
