Subsidies of Agri-Environmental Programs Versus Economical Results in Organic Farm in Poland
Abstract
Based on empirical data from 196 farms organic production, marketability of production was found to be low in the group of households receiving the largest subsidies to agri-environment schemes. The ratio of total payments in relation to commodity production was nearly 1:1, and in the group receiving more than 50 thous. PLN subsidies, this ratio was almost 3:1. In the group of households receiving the highest fees the highest level of agricultural income earned was reported. On a national scale, this means that farms receiving more than 20 thous. PLN subsidies to agri-environmental programs receive more than 62% of payments from the agri-environment schemes. At the same time these holdings produce less than 32% of the total production of goods.
