FARMER PROFESSION – AGRICULTURE AS A FIELD OF STUDY AND A WAY OF OBTAINING AGRICULTURAL QUALIFICATIONS



Abstract

Requirement of having (supplementing) agricultural qualifications has an impact on the future choice of didactic path, including its level, field of study, major or even particular educational institution in regard to subjects receiving an agricultural holding in exchange for structural pension or interested in founding an agricultural holding. Qualifications are a formal outcome of assessment and validation process based on the established procedure by achieving learning goals compliant with defined standards (e.g. qualifications framework). Regulatory professional qualifications for farmers can be obtained, i.a. through participation in educational tracks of higher education system allowing to gain the necessary licence. Elaboration is an attempt to identify, analyse and assess interest in education in the fields of studies related to agriculture at the level of higher education as a way of obtaining regulatory qualifications for farmers. Article uses research method in form of analysis of public statistics in higher education of Central Statistical Office and Agricultural Census 2010.
